Hawai‘i Island police: 14 motorists arrested for DUI through Aug. 4-10

Out of the 14 arrested, eight of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.

Maui DMV offices closed on Friday, Aug. 22 for staff training

All County of Maui Division of Motor Vehicles & Licensing offices will be closed on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, for staff training, according to the County Department of Finance. All DMVL offices will resume their regular customer service hours on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025.

Maui County July unemployment rate at 2.8%

In Maui County, the non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.8%, down from the 3.5% rate reported the month before, and the 4.3% rate reported at the same time last year. On Maui Island, the unemployment rate was 2.7%, down from 3.5% in June and down from 4.4% at the same time last year.
